I launched John Frame Consulting (JFC) to help start-ups avoid the leadership problems that often stall their growth. As a talent development leader and strategy consultant in some of the biggest and most successful technology companies and nonprofits, I’ve seen how detrimental bad management and leadership can be to company culture and productivity. Poor communication and guidance from the top can lead to duplicated work, competing priorities, and real dollars lost. No start-up can afford such blows to the bottom line.

The big, powerful corporations are struggling to adapt and can no longer lead the way forward. Start-ups have the power to challenge and change the status quo and shape a bold new business future. A business future that is diverse, innovative, equitable and forward-thinking with bold, fearless leaders at the helm.

1985-2007 Foundation and Education

Early Life and Education

Born in 1985 in Detroit, MI, as the youngest of four siblings.

Awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious Cranbrook Kingswood boarding school, marking a transformative period in life, improving education prospects.

Admitted to University of Chicago in 2003, where a deep commitment to learning began.

2007-2015 Leadership and Community Building

Teaching and Academic Achievements

Graduated from college with Honors in 2007 and moved to NYC to teach high school English. Obtained a Master's degree in Education from Pace University in 2009.

Founded KIPP Philosophers Academy in South Central Los Angeles in 2012, becoming the highest-rated new school in Los Angeles Unified School District's history.

2015-2018Networking and Professional Growth

Diversification and Business Ventures

Earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 2015-17.

Interned in the fashion industry, consulted for tech start-ups and nonprofits, and built a strong professional network.

Relocated to San Francisco in 2017 to lead sales training at LinkedIn and began consulting with start-ups on the side.

Harnessed coaching skills while attending the Co-Active Training Institute in 2018.

2019-2023Global Impact and Consulting

Led talent development at Uber, and Executive Leadership Development and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy at Rakuten from 2019 to 2022.

Launched John Frame Coaching & Consulting in 2023 to support next-gen founders in their leadership journey, becoming a global digital nomad in the process.
